The best way to find out what you want on your wall is to spend time in front of real paintings. In Lecce the collections to start from are MUST (Museo Storico della Città di Lecce), MUSA (Museo Storico-Archeologico). That is where to look for the names the city ties to its history, such as Giuseppe Zimbalo and Edoardo De Candia.
